Fundraisers

My cousin, Christopher Passey, may look younger than he is, he is 54 years, young. Occasionally to give his mum a little break, now and again, he goes and stays at Beeston Respite, Leeds. The staff are amazing. Chris struggles, he does not like been alone in his bedroom at night and stresses when it is time for bed. Most nights, Chris prefers to be in the tv room and will sleep for a few hours in a chair.

All are working at helping Chris feel comfortable in his bed at night when at Respite. The staff tell me he is not alone. There are other residents who at first don’t feel comfortable and will not sleep in their rooms at first.

I said it would be nice if we could donate a reclining chair – through rules and regulations it is not as simple as this.

This would help residents be able to stand from a chair, more easier if they need this help. If apprehensive when initially staying, although not ideal, they could also rest in a reclining chair, which they could sleep part of the night in, if it reclined enough to be a bed.

I love to run. I’m running London Marathon this year. I won the ballot through my fabulous running club South Leeds Lakers. I do not find marathons easy. I did not finish Leeds marathon last year through the heat and a racing heart rate. I got the all clear, to run another marathon. I really don’t want it to be hot on Sunday 27th April 2025 but let’s not focus on that. The weather will be what it will be. I’ve found my reason to finish the race though.

Many run, for defined charities. This is a little close to home for me. Something small that can make a difference to the community of Beeston, Leeds, I run around 2 to 3 times per week.

So, Chris needs a reclining chair and other do too, to help them feel more comfortable in Respite care. The miles are going to continue until we buy this chair!
